Too soon or too long

8 Then Paul went to the synagogue and preached boldly for the next three months, arguing persuasively about the Kingdom of God. 9 But some became stubborn, rejecting his message and publicly speaking against the Way. Act 19:8-9 NLT

This was Paul’s longest stay at one synagogue. Three months is a long time to try and persuade people to turn to God. Some came to believe in Jesus and some rejected the message, became stubborn and even spoke against Jesus publicly.

We can learn two things from Paul.

  1. Don’t give up to soon. Be willing to help someone understand God even if it takes more time than you thought. They may just come around.
  2. Don’t stay too long. Once someone has definitively decided that they do not want anything to do with Jesus, move on. There may be an opportunity in the future but for now move on to the next person God puts in your life.
