Life is useless, unless… (devotion)
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. Acts 20:24 NLT
Paul was quickly approaching the end of his life. He felt it important to let some of his followers know that this was the last time that they would see him. Just before this verse he states that the spirit of God is leading him to Jerusalem and that he will be suffering. This suffering however didn’t detour him from going where God was leading him. Instead he chooses to stay focused knowing that the value of his life was useless unless it was spent finishing the work that God assigned him.
This verse reminds us of three things; 1. The true value of life. 2. Our God given responsibly. 3. How to finish life strong. God has assigned all believers a common responsibility, to share His amazing grace. This assignment keeps us focused and fuels our worth and purpose in this world until our time is up.
Our lives are useless unless we obey what God has planned. Finishing well means fulfilling our assignment, our assignment is telling other about His grace. God, help us to do this well.
